1. Overnight field trip Jegersberg

For our first overnight trip we went to Jegersberg. Some days before we practiced how to put up our tents. he tent groups were randomly chosen. I was in a four person tent. We organized which equipment and food every member should bring before.

We started our session in Jegers with group dynamic games. Each country had to contribute at least one game. Some of them were more competitive than others. There were a few which didn’t really contribute to the group’s dynamic. This were games where you were standing a lot and playing for your own victory. The best game was something similar to hide and seek. Petr introduced it to us. One seeker had to count loudly blindfolded and touching a tree from 20 down to 0. The others searched for a hiding place. Once the seeker called 0 he looked around and had to call the names of the people he was able to sea. If he didn’t see anyone else he started counting from 19 to 0. Meanwhile each and everyone of us had to touch the tree he was holding and go back into hiding. This was great fun because everyone had to be fast and concentrated. There were no long breaks and everyone was part of the game. Moreover the seeker had to know the names.

Elking - Switzerland

As Petr one the competition and was in our group he was the one to chose which food to take for the cooking competition. We prepared some potato soup with chicken. It is nice and warm, fills you up and gives you the fluid you need in winter. Nevertheless I would not take potatoes on winter trips because they are heavy and they freeze. Additionally they take a long time to be ready.

The nicest part of the evening was when we started the fire and had some marshmallows.

Campfire

Our instructor went home which is comparable to an abdicratic style of leadership. He gave us the responsibility and left the group on its own. We had some funny talks around the camp fire. In the end it were only four people left so we wet to bed.

The next morning we had some porridge for breakfast and it took us kind of long to pack our stuff. From the night I learned that I do not need a bevy bag in these conditions in a tent. All in all it was a great bonding time four our group which was still in the forming phase.
