2. day, tuesday

The first skiing day for us on this trip,

it was really warm again and so our lectures decided to go to bortlied. I was so happy about it cause 3 years ago I’ve been there before, but in the summer.

This time we splitted up into 2 groups and trying some exercises on the slope. We try to wax as good as possible with the red wax and went onto a small area. There we start doing some technic training.

Basic Ski tecnics:

diagonal style:

The classic style,

With using the climbingzone you put your weight on one ski, after it you push yourselfe forward onto the other ski and use the glidingzone to glide on one ski. You can help if you push with your ski poles too, but u need the poles more for balancing on flat area. The poles are more important for uphill running ore double pole. Remember, if youre right leg pushes you forward, youre left arm is behindĀ  you and not infront of you. This tecnic is good for beeing fast and saving energy. And it’s similar to long distance running.

uphill diagonal::

It’s nearly the same tecnique, but if you have bad wax on youre skiis ore the hill is to bold you need to use youre arms much ore you need to use an other tecnique. You need to make smaler steps to climb up a hill and you need to balance youre bodyweight better from one ski to the other. Sometimes you need to stomp onto the ground with the ski for having grip

double pole:

The hard style,

the dopple pole tecnique is really hard and needs lots of endurance, but its very fast cause you try to balance your weight between the skis, and so you are most of the time on the gliding zone of youre skiis. It’s hard work for your abs and your arms but if you are really fast, by example on a downhill part, it’s easier to use this tecnique as the diagonal style.

Turns on one place:

With elevating of the tip and the heel you can make an easy turn. You start in one direction, then you elevate: tip..tip…heel…heel. If you will move the tip, the heel must stay on the ground. If you move the heels, your tips should stay on the ground. If you do it right, you can make a 360° turn on a smal place.

Non prepared areas:

It’s quite different to move in deeper unprepaired snow. It’s harder to hold youre balance on the ski and your skiis are not fixed in a slope, so the ski will move in every direction. But specialy downhill driving is very different to preparet slopes.
