In some contexts, dividing is repeated subtraction. For example if we begin with 12 and repeatedly subtract groups of 4, we can do that three times. So 12 divided by 4 is 3.
But in this case, we are repeatedly subtracting from zero. The result is a rectangle, which is what we get from multiplying.
So, what multiplication is represented by the rectangle that results when groups of five yellow tiles are removed three times?
