4. Monday trip 20/2

Everything was wrong! Small group, bad weather, bad map, wet feet!

The first really bad Monday trip organized by people from our group. I think that I can say that everything was wrong! Because the Norwegians had a holiday and anybody told this us. We have waited for half hour in front of Spicheren and after decided to go alone. Unfortunately a lot of people from our group also missed.

We went to Jegensberg in really small group. The topic of the day was – navigation/orienteering practice in local areas. It sounds good but it wasn’t! We made three small groups, every group got a map. Our task was find every points in the map – something like an orinteering race. But the map was only with contours – without legend, without colours! It was very difficult, because in the map missed main points. When we didn’t find anything for 2 hours in the forest we decided to go back. Everybody in my group was bored and angry, because the day before was strong rain and the forest was wet and our feet were wet as well. So everything together – problem with map, wet foots, bad weather etc. was one big bad trip! We worked together, talked together but even though I felt that mood in our group wasn’t good we missed motivation.  On the way back we met the second group, which had the same problem – they found nothing! The last group came later and they found only 2 controls, better than we.

After we had lunch and set together around the fire. We were talking about the really bad map and the other problems. In the end people, who prepared this trip apologized about the map and promised that next time it will be better! One advantages was that we finished our trip earlier than usually and we had more free time for packing our stuff to Tromso.

It was the first really bad Monday trip and I hope that others will be better!:) It was good experience to know that the preparation has to be better and more fun!
