Weekend in Oslo 10.-12.2.
Friday 10.2.
We left Kristiansand on Friday morning. The way was quite long and boring (about 5 hours in the bus). When we arrived in Oslo we went straight to the camp ground and started to look for a spot big enough for the whole group. I was with Eli and we shared tent with German girls. Our spot was close to the cross-country race track. Everywhere around were a lot of people, who built a tents, drank and sang. It looked like a one big party in the middle of nowhere and I supposed that we will be alone in the forest, but the reality was surprising!
We then took the metro into the city. We visited main points in Oslo (royal palace, opera house,..) and I was sincerely little bit disappointed by the city. I expected more! But even though my mood and mood in whole group was really positive. We all went back to the camp ground in good moods to enjoy evening.
Saturday 11.2.
Next day morning after I made breakfast I dressed myself and went for the cross-country skiing arena. Skiing tracks in Holmenkollen are awesome. It was really good and exciting atmosphere and I really like Norwegians support for the sport. A lot of people wore traditional Norwegian clothes and had a flag. They gave me with their enthusiasm and clothes unforgettable experience! We had nice weather with sun shining so we could enjoy watching to the Nordic Combined men’s ski jumping and we also watched the 50K men’s cross country.
Sunday 12.2.
This morning we got up earlier than yesterday and packed up our camp. Most of us took the metro back into the city and the others would join us later. The plan of the day was visit the Fra and maritime museum.
It was really interesting to read about Scott and Amundsen expeditions with more details with focused on the artic survival. We spent there more than 3 hours and there is still a lot of interesting stuff which I can read and learn.
I didn’t learn much about outdoor stuff there but I learned a lot about Norwegian culture, history and people.
