Overnight field trip Jegersberg

Group dynamic tasks – multicultural team building activities

The day started in the classroom with lesson how to pack our bags for trips. All heavy equipment is packed closest to your back and you should carry to majority of the weight on your hips. The lesson was rewarding for me, because now I know what is necessary to take with me and how to pack it. I was happy that I had everything! We had meeting at 2 o’clock in Jegesberg.

At the first we started to make our place for sleep – shelter or tent. Me and a few girls decided to spent our night in the tent, because weather forecast wasn’t good.

When everybody has place for sleep, we started to play our games. Each country had to present their game. After game we gave feedback and evaluation. I knew a lot of games before, but some of them I found interesting. For example:

  1. England – The first were English people with funny chicken game. We had to throw plastic kitchen, run around our group and run again. Sometimes it was confused but even though fun.
  2. SwitzerlandWe had 3 tasks and when we finished one we could start eat chocolate with close eyes. The winner was group, which the first finished chocolate.
  3. Germany – maze the tarp, the river
  4. Finland Split the group into 2 teams. Each team has a 5 minute time limit to decide on a leader and non-verbal signals for ‘Left’, ‘Right’, ‘Forward’, ‘Stop’, ‘Squat’, and ‘Jump’. After that was a race (slalom) between stones.

It was really fun and me and Eli won! We were happy, because we had advantage for the second competition in cooking. The aim of the competition was to create a tasty and good looking dish on a storm kitchen in 20 minutes. We connected with Australian team and started to cook. We decided for salmon with rice and vegetables. We had big disadvantages, because we had only one small cooker and the others had 2 storm kitchens, even though we were on the second place. I was really surprised how tasty food groups prepared in a relatively short amount of time. It was an evidence that is possible to eat well (nutrition and healthy food) in the nature.

This trip was small step how to better know each other, because it was the first overnight trip, where was all group together. Even though that my night in tent wasn’t comfortable I really enjoyed it:)
