Hey I am Jannis Theune and in this blog I am going to report about my Experience in the Outdoor Education course of Fruiluftsliv at the University of Agder in Kristiansand Norway.
I was born and raised in Hamburg and in 2006 I spent a semester abroad in Lima, Peru. Currently I am studying geography and physical education in the master program at the University of Hamburg.
I love to travel which is why I started my travel experience after graduation from school in south East Asia. After that I was kind of addicted so I spent most of my time and my money on travelling to Asian and African continents including: India, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Marocco, Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
In 2011 after my bachelor I decided to go Zanzibar to study and to take part in a cultural exchange program for teachers in Tanzania and Germany. I lived in Zanzibar for 12 month while I studied at the State University of Zanzibar. My job was to work in a governmental secondary school in Zanzibar City while I stayed with a Tanzanian family. During my Time in Tanzania I learned Kiswahili and travelled around Tanzania to Ruanda and Oman. I started hiking and climbed the Ol donyo Lengai, Mount Merú and Kilimanjaro.
When I returned to Hamburg I wanted to get more outdoor skills so I decided to go to Kristiansand, Norway to take part in a study program called “Outdoor Education and Nature Guiding” or “Friluftsliv”. I am looking forward to learn a lot about the Norwegian way of life and the nature here in Norway
