To improve our skills as Veileaders we spent one week in Helleviga and organized outdoor activities for different high schools. We had three different schools who arrived in the evening spent the high in gapahuks and left in the noon the day after. We split the groups into teams of 6 persons and organized the activities competitive so they got points at every activity.

• Shelter building
• Stretchers
• Orienteering
• Fire lighting
• Lava  (Group Dynamic game

Learning outcome

In the beginning we were a little bit sceptic especially because of the weather. It was raining really heavy at the first day and the forecast for the other days was not that much better. Beside that it was May the month where the Norwegian students celebrate their graduation. But the students were really motivated to try something new and had not too much problem with the weather. Many students even told us that they enjoyed our have not expected such a good time. Especially my first activity the canoeing-challenge was a lot of fun for me and the students. I would consider an article in a Norwegian frilusliv magazine and the repetition of the activities next year as a great success.

Personal outcome

I was glad to use the things we learned during the semester. And it was really nice to see how passionate students could be if they discover new exiting activities. Beside that it I got a nice overview for different outdoor activities that I could use for camps or for schools activities.
