Monday
We started the journey at Kristiansand bus station at 1545, after finding the correct bus tucked away in the corner all ready to go. We managed to squeeze in and headed towards Bortelid, taking an hour before we had to change at the town before the ski centre. At the change we didn’t realise we had to book the bus, but luckily there was a bus there taking a few people up.
The accommodation was very nice considering the price and the fact we are students, clean and spacious with 2 floors and not too far from the ski centre if anything bad happened, although it didn’t have Wi-Fi surprisingly.

Our cabin for the trip
As it was late, we didn’t do any skiing until the following day, so the first night we played cards, and attempted to watch Norwegian TV, we mostly just laughed at the the language barrier.
Tuesday
The night before we discussed the next morning and where/what we would do, the group was torn between going off piste or staying on tracks regarding the weight increase. In the end we decided to go off piste the same route that Tim took us a few weeks earlier, but it turns out sticking to the route would be harder than we first though, we seemed to miss the turn off and continued down the valley, where we had to turn round and come back up, this was very hard work and thoroughly dampened our moods as we thought we were doing so well.
After this fiasco, we decided to head back and set off later where we could see the sun set further up the mountain, although it turns out we were a lot more tired than first thought and we ended up staying in sleeping the late afternoon, much to our annoyance.
Wednesday
After starting the day on track and on schedule, we headed up the mountain to start wondering why it was only our group going up and everyone else coming down, after a group vote we decided to come down because it became apparent further up as the weather had become so traitorous that we couldn’t continue further.
After a rather heated debate with the rest of the group, me and the other girl on the trip, Paige, decided to head out ourselves on a track her group had done previously. We actually managed to see the sun set on a small hill overlooking a lake, it was very beautiful and well worth the effort. Regardless of the argument that day, the group dynamics wasn’t affected and we still played cards that’s night. After a group chat, we decided that leaving early next morning would be better as we had deemed the trip less than successful, so Thursday consisted of travelling back to Kristiansand.
