On monday, the 15th of February, it was the turn of us, the international students, to plan and guide the monday trip. A group of 8 students from Kaserneveien assumed the charge for this day. Like always we have had a meeting at Spicheren at 9 am, before we headed to the well known place at Jegersberg.
As we arrived there, the organisers had already split up and went to the different stations they had to supervise. Two of them were left to explain us the plans for the day, the rules for the first game and divided us into two groups. Task of the day was to pass a few challenges and stations that were build up around the 4 kilometer cross-country track better and faster than the second team.
The first game took place at our familiar meeting place at Jegersberg, with a wood throw competition against the other teams which the two supervisors shortened after the practice round by tighten the rules. Otherwise the game would have taken too much time.
After that, we left on the 4 km track to find the next challenge. Next task was to cross an imaginary river with crocodiles in it as fast as we could by just using logs while no one was allowed to touch the ground. Due to the inattention of the supervisors we lost non of the logs and finished the challenge thanks to good teamwork relatively fast. Motivated from the good result of the challenge we ran to the next exercise. We had to turn a tarp that was laid down on the floor without using our hands while everyone was standing on the tarp. With Line’s great idea we made it in seconds and headed to the fourth game. Because one of the girls in our group was injured, Kristian carried her sometimes that we could go faster tot he next station.
At a small rock near the path we were challenged to climb up and down as fast as we could without any further instructions. We helped each other perfectly and thanks tot hat great teamwork we finished this task also very fast and arrived some minutes later at the last challenge. Two guys built up a spieder net with some ropes where every member of the group had to go through without touching the rope. That task was more individualistic than the others because we could only help the guys inside the net psychological and not physical. The easiest way through the net was to crawl the whole way… The guys that had have been at the military shined out pretty much in that challenge.
The supervisors there reminded us once more that it is for time, so we ran back at the starting point as fast as possible. Fortunately the second group arrived about 20 minutes after us when we had already lightened a fire for our lunch.
Before we all were allowed to go home after lunch, the guys from Kaserneveien made the results of the challenges public and my group came out as the winner.
For me that day was a very challenging trip with much movement and interesting tasks where different skills were required. Every station was well prepared and they let us find our own solutions at the chellanges. Furthermore it was nice to see how good my group worked together as a team!
