01 First Overnight Field Trip Jegersberg

Challenge of this Trip was to prove our gear and equipment as it was the first night sleeping in a tent and also to get to know each others better (‘real friendship grows at the camfire’).

We were split up in tent groups of 3 or 4 people, who also cook together in the evening. Each country should think about typical group dynamic games of their country and play it later with the whole group.

So we all packed our stuff in our big backpack and went 30 minutes to the first green area in Jegersberg. Packing was not our main focus but you got a feeling of the fully packed backpack. There we had to find a good area to set up our tent and helped each other doing it. After that we played the typical-country games instructed by 1 or 2 people of the country. It was a lot of fun playing these and it helped the group cohesion to get tighter. The best game in my opinion was Petr’s: kind of hide and seek but the catcher is not allowed to move from the tree where he is counting. If he sees somebody he has to call his/her name and the person is out of the game. If he can not see anybody he starts counting again but from a lower number. Meanwhile the hidden people have to come out of their hiding place, touch the tree and hide again. This goes as long as it is only about 5 seconds that it is impossible for the hiders to go out and hide again – a lot of fun with running and stumbling around and meanwhile learning the names!

After that we had a cooking competition. Each tent group got rice, pasta or potatoes then fish, meat or chicken and some vegetables and had to prepare a good meal within 20 minutes with the camping cooker. Also a nice group dynamic thing as you have to help each other while cooking and in the end judge the best meal.
Each tent group also got two outdoor riddles which they had to discuss and solve. We discussed it all together in class on the next morning.

In the end we made a nice campfire and went to bed when we were tired enough. The bad thing was I was really freezing this night even with my emergency blanket underneath and a good warm sleeping bag… I will definitly order my fleece inlet from home!! So it was not the best night of my life but at least it can only be better in the future… But the afternoon and evening was really nice and it helped to get to know the people of my group better!

PS: It got really better! That was by far my worst night outdoors!
