To share some further impressions of my stay here in Kristiansand here some pictures of the several trips I did.
January
“Jegersberg” is the recreation area just behind the Campus of my Universit.
And as I said, it started already to snow. Now everything is covered in a beautiful white colour which makes the day more bright and the darkness fade.
The trip up to “Holmenkollen”, which means a “small freestanding hill” in norwegian and is also a place in Oslo were ski jump competions and other ski events take place. More about this in march 🙂
Same top of the hill, but this time on our orientieering trip.
There we learned how to read a map in detail (its boring just to go on the main tracks, Len, showed us how we find the very small trails by seeing rocks in the map or junktions in the middle of nowhere).
Every Monday we are on Day Trips. Its together with the Norwegian Outdoor Education Course. They will plan the first Trips and then its the turn for my course (The International Outdoor Education Course) to organize them.
Bonfire after a hiking through the area of Jegersberg.
Learning some new tricks how to prepare food and get it warm in the bonfire.
Stick bread in variation by adding sugar and cinamon or a dip. Sandwiches, Apples, etc. in tinfoil provides a warm tasty meal.
Linda, Lindest the Lindesness!
A sunday trip in the region of “Lindesness” – the most southern city of Norway: Mandal
February
The last 2 Weeks were amazing here in Kristiansand. I discoverd so many new things in just 2 weeks.
Sunday 28th of January: A spontanious trip to Vennesla with a little Group of international students and norwegian friends.
If u wanna do a trip here and ask just at facebook who would like to join, immediately 20 people come together, fill 3 cars and off u go.
So we went to that beautiful place at Vennessla and walked along an old railway.
Learned lesson: always take a spare pair of shoes with u when u walk in deep snow 😉
To make a propper fire in the snow start with two blocks for a dry base. Then u can put smaller sticks crosswise about one another and fill it with sliced bark.
In the end of the day we went to a bar in Kristiansand for an impro theater evening.
On the following monday evening, Zoe, Sarah and me went for a “Bygedanskveld” (Bygedans = traditional dance, kveld = evening). It was one of my best evening here in K. I can say for sure. We had so much fun with the norwegian old people (most of them were around 70). They were so lovely and warmhearted, still skilled in all the different dances and immidiately integraded us in the dances. We learned the “Rheinlander” (a traditional dance of germany) I was surprised that I found some of my roots here up in Norway. The second dance was the “springar” (= to run) which I enjoyed the most and a thired dance we leared was the “Gangar” ( =to go). Coincidentally two young students of journalism made a report of this evening. Here the short summary of the evening for the local TV:
