We all loved the weather this week because it was the perfect snow conditions – Tons of powder
One week in a small hut with 8 boys and 1 other girl is putting group dynamics and the groups cohesia on the spot. It was a week full of fun and laughter and lots of skiing, but it also shaped the group for the better.
We were skiing in the alpine center the first three days, and here I got to work with my balance and coordination in deep snow conditions. It was a lot of fun, but I got pushed on endurance and technique. I was riding with the Max, Martin, Julian and Jonas, which meant full speed – literally. I was very glad to be riding with them because my skiing skill became so much better after the three days
A lot of tree hugging and nice long rides in a half meter snow made the three days better. I think we had and awesome cohesia, because there were space within the group that I was a little slower. Besides that the guys (Julian and Martin) got a feeling of which level I was on for our big trip to Tromsø.
The last three days we used in the area around the hut on the cross country skies and here I got to see how the different people in the group including myself the group looked on the topic «silence and communication». There were one how said to me «look at this we aren’t team building and working as a group because we are so spread out and not talking at all». It was funny to experience and discuss how different you see on ‘when is a group working and not working’. Myself were very satisfied with the possibility of just keeping my own pace and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. But I came to realize that each group is different and if you all aren’t clear of the ‘what do we expect of this daytrip’ or ‘what do I want to achieve from this day trip with these people’, then small problems can develop within the group.
One of the cross country days we went off the track and in the deep snow. It was really hard because I had chosen to bring my own polls and had forgot to shift the bottom of the ski pole. That meant that it did not give me the right amount of support, because it went deep in the snow and with to little wax on the skies it was a struggle. I must say that I have learned to have the right equipment and put enough wax under the skies pays off in the deep snow. The next day we went on a 15 km ride around the track.
We decided to take a route that went uphill for quiet a while, which would challenge us in technique. It did for some of us, that hatten put 5 cm of wax under our skies. It looked like they were just walking and lifting the hole ski forward. Not really a lot of sliding. It is quiet funny and I think it just depends of the experience.
-Anyway the tour around the fjeld were really good and the sun were out the most of the time.
The overall group dynamics were really good when you take in considerations that we were living really close the hole week. We have definitely been in the storming phase. Im excited to see how it develop.
