1st Monday trip 18/1

Organised by Norwegian students

We all met up in front of a Spicheren entrance equipped with skis at 9am on Monday. The weather was perfect for going out. Thomas, Norwegian student who was leader of the day trip told us some important information about day programme (what we are supposed to do and where). Then each of all had to bring with him/her one piece of wood for fire (that was really good idea). Guys who hadn’t skis because of missing ski boots had to carry rest of the wood.

When we came to Jagersberg, we started with playing warm up games. The first game is in the Czech Republic known as “Mrazík” (Frost). It’s a type of a chase game. There were 3 guys who were chasing the others, the roles of “frosts” had changed after approx. 5 minutes. After we had played this game without skis, we played it with skis, what was much more fun. Then there was another game called “Shark attack” what was also a fun.

After these warm up games, Norwegians split us to 2 groups. One group practised skiing and second group had a something like biathlon race. We could choose multiple ways of practising skiing. The choice was interesting: ski jumping, slalom, downhill or practising basics on flat ground. I chose ski jumping. Considering previous lesson about group dynamics I can say that there was a lot of group influence (I mean risk acceptance). We were pushing each other to jump farther and more stylish. Fortunately no one is hurt.

After our small ski jumping competition, we moved to another post for biathlon race. Norwegians split us to 4 different groups which were mixed with both international and Norwegian student. It was nice way how to meet new people. Biathlon race was kind of relay with obstacles and shooting range, where we were supposed to throw 3 frozen oranges to small snow hole. If somebody had missed than we had to go for short penalty lap. The race was huge fun and everybody was trying to do his/her best with support of his team.

After the biathlon the lunchtime came. Norwegians allowed us to the fire on our own. They were there just for advice. I have to say that their advices were very interesting. We spent about one hour with sitting over the fire baking sausages and apples (German contribution). It was really nice.

After the lunch Norwegians let us to do some small trips around Jagersberg or just stay at lunch place at try to get better on skis. I and couple of other made a big round and then we tried to give some advice to our less skiing experienced friends.

I judge this day as very funny and interesting. It would be more interesting if I am less experienced skier.
