Organised by Norwegian students
The last field trip to Jegersberg organised by Norwegian students was a little bit different than the previous trips. They asked us the day before to take with us big backpacks filled with all equipment which is necessary for camping. What I put in my rucksack: Sleeping bag, sleeping mat, bivouac sack, storm kitchen, first-aid kit, extra clothes and the food for one day. We all met up again in front of Spicheren at 9.15 am. The weather was (traditionally) very bad. It was rainy and windy.
Norwegians split up us into two groups of approx. 13 people. In these groups we were again split up into small groups of three people. Task for each group was leading the rest of the group from the beginning of the trip using map and compass. I was in small group with Julian and Line. We had two maps so we each tried to find the way him/herself and then compare the results. We didn’t get lost during our leading so we probably made a good job.
The topic of the day wasn’t just hiking. There were several tasks which we were supposed to do on our way. At first stop there was a game-relay. We were divided into two groups. Possibilities of movement were different such us using just one leg, carry somebody etc.
Second game was very interesting. We were competing in same groups. It was again kind of relay. We were at the bottom of the small hill. There was a castle made of brick-box on the top of that hill. We had same brick-box at the bottom of the hill. Our task was to run separately on the top, remember the castle and try to build it down there. This game was very difficult for communication and memory. It was interesting to see how different was ours point of view.
Than we got to lunch place which was already prepared by three Norwegian students. Before the lunch there was a survival themed game. There was a small rope above the fireplace. We were supposed to do fire as fast as possible and burn the rope. During this game came up who is more interested in this survival stuff. Somebody was working very hard some other guys were just watching.
Last game was connected with manipulating with injured person. It was again kind of relay during which we were supposed to fix a broken leg, carry our backpacks and carry injured guy.
I liked this trip. It was interesting way how to learn new abilities for staying and camping outdoors.
