
{"id":509,"date":"2015-05-15T17:39:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-15T16:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/home.uia.no\/mirib14\/?page_id=509"},"modified":"2015-06-03T13:47:56","modified_gmt":"2015-06-03T12:47:56","slug":"first-aid-in-winter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/home.uia.no\/mirib14\/practical-informations\/first-aid-in-winter\/","title":{"rendered":"First Aid in a cold environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is cold weather?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Normally minus degrees or al lot of wind and rain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How start freezing first?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0 Woman &#8211;&gt; Less fat and lower blood circulation<\/p>\n<p>2\u00a0 Young kids &#8211;&gt; Less fat, Less muscles, they do not think about it<\/p>\n<p>3 Old people &#8211;&gt; lower blood circulation<\/p>\n<p>4\u00a0 People who are not used to be outside<\/p>\n<p>5\u00a0 People from warmer regions<\/p>\n<p>6 People with worse closes<\/p>\n<p>7\u00a0 People who feel a bit ill<\/p>\n<p>8 Smoker and Drinker<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to avoid getting cold?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Everybody has to look after himself!<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Enough food<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Enough to drink&#8211;&gt; 2-3l if you move a lot more<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Avoid to sweat &#8211;&gt; over-active<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Do not stand to long still &#8211;&gt; under-active<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good Clothes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Frist layer: Wool &#8211;&gt; keeps you warm<\/p>\n<p>Second layer: A warm Pullover<\/p>\n<p>Third layer: Wind and water proof clothes<\/p>\n<p>Hat&#8211;&gt; You loses more then 70 per cent of your total body heat over your heat!<\/p>\n<p>Scarf; Gloves &#8230; \u00a0&#8211;&gt; everywhere the veins runs next to the skin you lose a lot of heat<\/p>\n<p><strong>What keeps the body warm?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Blood; Movement; shiver<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where do we feel cold first?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fingers and toes<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long can somebody survive in the cold water?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>5-10 min &#8211;&gt; afterwards you are not able to do anything anymore<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diseases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Hypothermia<\/strong> &#8211;&gt; under 35 degrees Body heat<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>Lethargies; shiver but the person do not feel cold anymore; get slowly; loses the ability to speak in clear sentences; loses coordination; Blue lips<\/p>\n<p>What to do:<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Undress wet clothes and pit dry and warm ones on<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Person has to eat something warm with a lot of sugar &#8211;&gt; melted chocolate<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Bring the person directly into a warm environment &#8211;&gt; in a emergence a tent or a bivouac<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Skin in skin with a person who has enough energy<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 The person has to rest at least 1 day<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Frostbites <\/strong>&#8211;&gt; the part of the body do not gets enough blood anymore &#8211;&gt; die off<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>Either white spots that do not get red after touching or red blisters<\/p>\n<p>What to do:<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Keep the part of the body warm and dry<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Do not open the blisters cover them or bandage them<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Rub the part of the body warm and cover it afterwards<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Sunburn<\/strong> &#8211;&gt; Snow reflects the Sun &#8211;&gt; use sun cream before you start a trip and during the trip<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Snow- blindness <\/strong>&#8211;&gt; to much UV-radiation<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Red eyes<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Pain<\/p>\n<p>What to do:<\/p>\n<p>Anvil the sun; cover the eyes &#8211;&gt; sunglasses<\/p>\n<p>Need 2-3 days to recover<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Dehydration<\/strong> &#8211;&gt; person did not drunk enough<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Dark, yellow Urine<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Headache<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Thirsty<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Person has problems to see clearly<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Person to not feel hungry<\/p>\n<p>\u25aa\u00a0\u00a0 Stomach ache<\/p>\n<p>What to do:<\/p>\n<p>Person has to drink something slowing over a long period<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is cold weather?
