But it&#8217;ll take some training and experience, though.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>MAP READING.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Road maps and other general use maps are often a jumble of color. They use map colors in a variety of ways&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Blue<\/span> &#8211; lakes, rivers, streams, oceans, reservoirs, highways, local borders<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Red<\/span> &#8211; major highways, roads, urban areas, airports, special interest sites, military sites, place names, buildings, borders<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffff00\">Yellow<\/span> &#8211; built-up or urban areas<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #00ff00\">Green<\/span> &#8211; parks, golf courses, reservations, forest, orchards, highways<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000\">Brown<\/span> &#8211; deserts, historical sites, national parks, military reservations or bases, contour (elevation) lines<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Black<\/span> &#8211; roads, railroads, highways, bridges, place names, buildings, borders<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080\">Purple<\/span> &#8211; highways, (also used on U.S.G.S. topographic maps to represent features added to the map since the original survey)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"line-height: 24px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/home.uia.no\/sarar13\/files\/2014\/01\/IMG_6012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-100\" src=\"http:\/\/home.uia.no\/sarar13\/files\/2014\/01\/IMG_6012-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/home.uia.no\/sarar13\/files\/2014\/01\/IMG_6012-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/home.uia.no\/sarar13\/files\/2014\/01\/IMG_6012-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/home.uia.no\/sarar13\/files\/2014\/01\/IMG_6012-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>As you can see, different maps can use colors in a variety of ways.
