En god undervisningsøkt i samfunnsfag

I en 9. klasse skal de ha om emnene «kriminalitet og det norske retssystemet». Klassen min er forholdsvs muntlig aktive og klager fort dersom det blir for mye skriftlig arbeid. De er ofte engasjerte i samfunnsfag og liker å diskutere. Som lærer vil jeg gjerne utnytte meg av dette på en mest mulig positiv måte.

Jeg bestemmer meg derfor for å lage en fiktiv rettssak. Etter litt undervisning på emnet der elevene bl.a. får oversikt over de ulike rettsinstansene og hvordan kriminelle blir behandlet i Norge, deler jeg dem inn i grupper. Noen skal ta seg av jobben som forsvarsadvokat, noen er aktor, andre dommere og meddommere osv. Etter at gruppene har fått bruke litt tid på å sette seg inn i saken, lese seg opp på hva oppgaven deres innebærer og gruppa har valgt ut hvem som skal representere gruppas rolle i rettssaken setter jeg av tid til å avholde denne rettssaken.

Klasserommet ommøbleres for her skal det bli tilskuerbenker, vitneboks og plasser til dommere og advokater. De elevene som har blitt utvalgt til å spille ut sine roller tar sine plasser og «dommeren» setter retten. Etter en del dramatisering avsluttes rettssaken og jeg tar resten muntlig der elevene må svare på hvilke mulige utfall saken kan få og evt. hvilke rettsinstanser saken kan ankes videre til og hvordan det evt. vil fungere.

Dette opplegget vil gjerne gå over ei uke eller to og er avhengig av at elevene er motiverte og fokuserte for oppgaven. Det er også litt tidkrevende, men jeg vil si elevene vil nå mer enn bare dette kompetansemålet.
