Student organised field trip II – Vennesla  03.- 04.03

I joined for the second self organized trip to Simon, Timon and Flo than Berit and Bowen joined as well. Our plan was to go to Vennesla by bus and back by foot.

When we arrived to We visited the town – Vennesla. After, we went in direction to Kristiansand…Firstly our plan was to reached the top – Sletteheia but because it was so late we decided to find some place for camping. Eventually we found nice place for camping. We split into two groups, one group built shelter and the second made a fire. I made the fire. So we had to find some best dry woods but it was difficult, everything was wet and frozen. After some time I discovered the tree with quite dry branches and two trunks which didn’t lie on the ground. We cut the trunks to smaller pieces. Simon made the fire – he was very fast. Second group built a very nice shelter. We spent our evening by food, talking (but our group wasn’t smooth talking 🙂 ) and playing games. Timon was funny – he tried to pee to the bottle in his sleeping bag. He did it, it was fun and I think that this brought positive, funny energy to our group that I little missed. We went to sleep about eleven. In the morning – no morning… we woke up really late about eleven. We enjoyed our breakfast in the warm sleeping bags by watching on the falling snow. It was nice and I could stay in our shelter all weekend :-). We packed our stuff and continued in our trip between one-two hour in the afternoon. We supposed that we had a lot of time so we decided to reach the top – Sletteheia but the way was really wet because of melting snow and Norwegian marks were so confusing – we lost some time by looking for marks… On the base these factors we decided to didn’t go to the top. I realized that boys wanted to go up but some from our group looked tired so I agreed with this decision. Way back was more difficult than we expected – really wet and we had to concentrate on our every step. In addition, profile was still up and down, up and down… really way back wasn’t easy… Further we were going for 5-6 hours with only small breaks because we were worried about time. Finally, we were close to Den omvendte bat before getting dark. We were lucky…because we were going through Jegesberg with still some light…and some from our group were really tired…we passed Univerzity when it was already dark…

Main points:

Our group was without any problem, one disagreement was “maybe” about decision – go to up on the top of Sletteheia. On the other hand I think that everybody was happy that we crossed the Jegesberg with some light…I little missed more fun and relax mood in our group. I suppose it was because of difficulty of this trip. I think for me it was the most difficult trip during time in Norway. I’ve never gone with stuff for overnight sleeping by so difficult terrain – when you have to concentrate on every steps… I realized that some from us were very tired but they fight with this and they were brave – mainly mentally…
