Assignment 1

Monday Fieldtrip 13.01.20

This Monday we did a typical norwegan activity. We hiked (or should I more say scated on the ice) up to the hill called “Holmenkollen”. It was quite challenging for everybody because the ground was covered in a 1 cm thick ice layer. I am still wondering how some of our students made it up the hill with their Sneakers on. But I really enjoyed to have the time outside in the woods with the good company of all the outdoor education students. Against the weather forecast it was raining half the way, which made it even harder to climb up that stony, wooden and muddy path. I guess what all of us learned this day was, that wet wood is not a good underground to walk on if it is wet and icy, and that we can never rely on the weather forecast.

When we arrived our aim, the Holmenkollen, the view was just breathtaking. It just stopped raining and the sun tried to get through the clouds and the dust that just rised up the sky. I just stand there for 5 minutes and enjoyed the few, the play of the light, the nature and the fast changing atmosphere. I couldn´t take my eyes off this spectacular play the sky, the sun and the ocean played. I totally lost time and space and got hitten by this feeling of freedom. While I was captured by the nature the rest of the group started a fire and sat there together. I joined them because we (the internationals) wanted to share our group rules with the Norwegian Group so we could made up overall rules. Because everybody totally agreed on that, we decided to play a game so we can get to know each other a bit better. Yamee read out some experiences and if you had made them in the past you should raise your Hand and share it with everybody. That was a lot of fun and the norwegians finally started to feel more comfortable with talking with us and interacting a bit more. It was quite interesting for me to see how the individuals act in a group. So there are some people that love to share and entertain the group but also some that just want to listen and don´t want to be too much in the center. I really enjoyed to see that we have such a big diversity in our group. From game to game everybody got more comfortable and we finally formed a community. Because the weather was changing really fast and a lot of us felt quite cold we decided to leave the place before it would start to rain again.

On the way back, the group dynamic changed. the people who talked to each other where really mixed and everybody got to know a few more people.

I really enjoyed that hike because on the one hand it was so nice for me to be outside enjoy the nature, see this amazing view and on the other hand it was so nice to have this process of groupforming. It was really crazy how fast the groupdynamic changed with just being together in the woods and havig the same interests. For me it was also a pleasure of having this honor of being allowed to go outside, experience those moments and feelings while I am studying.
